About

I'm an AI engineer specializing in Natural Language Processing, with a background in applied mathematics.

I started working in the field of Machine Learning in 2018, when "AI" was still not considered a serious field. In my career I have worked with small teams and been responsible for the full lifecycle of AI systems: from researching state-of-the-art solutions, to building data pipelines, and shipping models under real production constraints.

As the field has evolved, I have continued to grow professionally, adding LLMs to my workflow, along with fine-tuning and deploying local models.

What I've worked on

• LLM systems in production: I have solved numerous text-related tasks, from data classification and extraction, to the generation of text under strict lexical requirements, to chatbots, RAG systems and agentic systems.
• NLP and ML: I have long experience with "classic" NLP and ML tasks: combining them with modern LLMs allows me to build efficient systems which are up to the task.
• Model optimization: I have experience with fine-tuning and pruning SLMs (Small Language Models) for domain-specific and privacy-driven tasks.
• Scientific computing: during my PhD in mathematical analysis at SISSA (a top research institution in Italy) I built a rigorous background in scientific computing and numerical analysis.

I speak English at a near-native level, Italian is my mother tongue and I have conversational proficiency in Spanish and German.
